Michael Ramsey is a Strategy Analyst at Swiss Re. Swiss Re is one of the world’s leading reinsurers. Michael supports Swiss Re’s North American Facultative business. He is passionate about helping others and learning all he can about the insurance industry. He is an early-career professional and a recent graduate. Michael Ramsey spoke at the 2023 InsurTech Spring Conference on the panel “Attracting the Next Generation into Insurance,” alongside Tandeka Nomvete, Samiksha Padiyar, and Angel Song.
Michael has spent his early career at Swiss Re. He joined as an intern and grew into a full-time strategy role. He began in the Actuarial Development Program, where he built a reserving model for life products. He then supported the North American Facultative business as a strategy intern while finishing school. He moved into his current Strategy Analyst role in 2021.
Michael also interned at Travelers earlier in his studies. He was part of the Actuarial and Advanced Analytics Leadership Program. There he built a loss trend tool and won the company’s case competition.
Michael earned a bachelor’s degree from the Florida State University Honors Program. He studied Risk Management, Insurance, and Actuarial Science. He was a member of Gamma Iota Sigma, the insurance industry fraternity. He also conducted research on catastrophe risk management and presented his findings in Germany.
