New York Insurtech Group to Follow in Des Moines Program’s Footsteps
Think Advisor covers the launch of the InsurTech NY 2020 Global Startup Competition:
The insurtech community in New York City will be borrowing an idea from the insurtech community in Iowa and organizing a major event that will showcase hot new insurtech startups.
InsurTechNY, the most visible insurtech organization in the New York area, is launching an effort to identify interesting insurtech startups. The group recently opened an application window for a 2020 InsurTech Startup Competition.
The competition managers will award $300,000 in prizes to six winning teams. Startups in an early-stage track will compete for the title of the most investable startup.
The panel included two insurtech funding executives who work inside life insurance companies: Steven Ueng, a vice president for principal investments and acquisitions at Swiss Re, and Adam Myers, a senior vice president for strategic ventures at Guardian Life.
This collaboration between InsurTech NY and Think Advisor highlights the growing importance of innovation in the insurance sector, particularly in New York City, a hub for financial and technological advancements. The competition not only provides a platform for emerging startups to showcase their ideas but also fosters collaboration and networking opportunities within the insurtech community.
