Sebastien Bert is the Senior Vice President and Head of Alternative Markets at HSB, the Hartford Steam Boiler. He leads the division serving E&S and program carriers, MGAs, Lloyd’s, pools, and captives. His team combines specialty insurance products, risk management services, and customized reinsurance solutions. He brings deep expertise in reinsurance, strategic partnerships, and specialty distribution. Sebastien Bert spoke at the 2024 InsurTech Spring Conference on the panel “Improving Combined Ratios with 3rd Party Data,” moderated by Jason Gross, alongside Jeff Goldberg, Bryan Adams, Scot Barton, and Isaac Wash.
Before HSB, Sebastien spent 17 years at Swiss Re. He most recently served as Head of Strategic Partnerships for the Americas. In that role he drove growth for Swiss Re’s Reinsurance Solutions division. That business delivers data, technology, and consulting services to reinsurance clients. He also led partnership development where Swiss Re provided both capacity and solutions.
Sebastien built his career on the reinsurance side of the business. He spent more than a decade as a Vice President and Account Executive at Swiss Re. He later co-led and then headed the firm’s strategic partnerships work in the US. Earlier, he was a client manager at the broker Willis.
Sebastien holds an MBA in Finance from the UNC Kenan-Flagler Business School. He also earned a BA in Economics and International Business from Rollins College.
