Sean Madgett is a Vice President and Head of Holistic Advice and Financial Planning at New York Life. New York Life is the largest mutual life insurance company in the United States. In this role, Sean leads the company’s financial planning and holistic advice strategy. He brings deep experience in wealth management, corporate venture capital, and insurtech. He has spent his entire career at New York Life. Sean Madgett spoke at the 2023 InsurTech Spring Conference on the panel “Using Life Claims to Create Lifelong Relationship,” alongside Lisa Wardlaw, Ron Gura, and Tommy Smoot.
Sean spent nearly nine years with New York Life Ventures, the company’s corporate venture arm. He served as Vice President and Head of Business Development. There he connected startups with the business units that could use their technology. He worked across the insurtech and fintech landscape. That experience gave him a strong view of how carriers adopt new technology.
Earlier, Sean worked in New York Life’s wealth management business. He served as Corporate Vice President and Head of Operations and Service. He also worked in product development and management. He began his career there in investment operations.
Sean earned an MBA from Columbia Business School. He also holds a BA in Economics from Emory University, where he was a three-year varsity letterman on the golf team.
