Ron Gura is the Co-Founder and CEO of Empathy. Empathy was created with one mission: to help families deal with loss. It combines technology and human support to guide families through the challenges after losing a loved one. That includes the financial, legal, emotional, and logistical work of loss. Ron leads the company’s vision and growth. He is a repeat technology entrepreneur and product leader. Ron Gura spoke at the 2024 InsurTech Spring Conference in the fireside chat “Redefining Customer Experience in Group Life Insurance,” moderated by James Riviezzo, alongside John Kim and Juliane Kowalski.
Before Empathy, Ron was Senior Vice President of Product at WeWork. He led a technology organization and built a 250-person team there. Earlier, he served as an Entrepreneur in Residence at Aleph, a leading Israeli venture capital fund.
Ron spent more than three years at eBay as a Product Director and General Manager. He ran eBay’s Innovation and New Ventures group, incubating new businesses. He joined eBay through the acquisition of his first company.
Ron is a serial founder. He co-founded The Gifts Project, a social e-commerce platform for group gifting. eBay acquired the company in 2011. That success set the stage for his later ventures.
Ron studied business through the Zell Entrepreneurship Program at Reichman University, graduating Cum Laude. He also studied computer science at The Open University of Israel.
