Charanjit Singh Saggu is Director of Underwriting Innovation at Zurich North America, a leading commercial property and casualty insurer. At Zurich, Charanjit leads enterprise AI strategy for underwriting and adjacent functions. He architects and scales AI and generative AI solutions to improve decision quality and efficiency. He also defines Zurich’s broker connectivity and API integration strategy with major distribution partners. Charanjit spoke at our 2024 InsurTech Spring Conference on “Using AI to Improve Workflows,” alongside Manu Mazumdar, Patrick Gallic, Jasper Li, and Chris Schrenk.
Charanjit Singh Saggu brings more than 20 years of experience across IT, data architecture, and insurance innovation. He has spent more than a decade at Zurich North America. Before his current role, Charanjit served as Senior Innovation Leader for Middle Markets. There, he delivered AI and data-driven use cases that improved underwriting efficiency and risk selection. He also helped evaluate startups for the Zurich Innovation Championship.
Earlier at Zurich, Charanjit worked as an Enterprise Data Specialist and Architect. He led data strategy and architecture for the commercial P&C business. That work laid the groundwork for the company’s later AI and machine learning adoption. Before Zurich, he held business intelligence and architecture roles at Wipro across the UK, Germany, and India. He began his career in software roles at IBM and other organizations.
Charanjit Singh Saggu holds an MSc in Information Technology from Panjab University. He also completed an executive leadership and strategy program at the University of St. Gallen. For an insurtech audience, Charanjit brings an underwriting innovation leader’s perspective on AI and generative AI in underwriting, broker API integration, insurtech partnerships, and data-driven transformation in commercial insurance.
