Charlie Horn is a serial entrepreneur and the Founder of Horn Entrepreneurship, a top-ranked venture development center at the University of Delaware. Charlie has spent his career building companies across insurance, benefits, and healthcare technology. He founded Genius Avenue, a technology platform for the insurance and benefits industry, and served as its CEO. Earlier, he pioneered the consumer prescription discount industry as founder of ScriptSave. Charlie spoke at our 2024 InsurTech Spring Conference on “Winning more Group Business with Better Workflows,” alongside Ben Yomtoob, Nicole Cleves, Ramsey Smith, and Paul McGee.

Charlie Horn has founded and led companies for more than three decades. He launched ScriptSave in 1994, building it into the nation’s leading consumer prescription discount plan. The company saved consumers an estimated $15 billion before its sale in 2013. He also co-founded HealthTrans, later sold to SXC. His companies have earned seven Inc. 500 rankings and numerous best-place-to-work awards.

Today, Charlie focuses on developing the next generation of entrepreneurs. Through Horn Entrepreneurship, he leads programs for students, faculty, and community innovators. He also co-founded the Center for the Acceleration of Financial Equity, which supports founders serving low- and moderate-income communities. His Diamond Challenge is a global leader in high school entrepreneurship education.

Charlie Horn holds a Bachelor of Arts in Sociology from the University of Delaware. He is also a Chartered Life Underwriter. For an insurtech audience, Charlie brings a serial founder’s perspective on insurance and benefits technology, consumer healthcare savings, and building companies that scale.
