Tarun Chopra recently joined InsurTech Fund as a Venture Partner, bringing with him decades of experience leading global insurance and financial services organizations through transformative growth. A strategic operator and visionary executive, Tarun has lived on four continents and worked across six, making him uniquely equipped to identify opportunities and scale innovation in complex, cross-border markets.
Prior to joining InsurTech Fund, Tarun served as President and CEO of Clements Worldwide, where he led the company’s evolution into a globally recognized specialty insurer. Under his leadership, Clements tripled its revenue, improved EBITDA margins fivefold, and expanded its global footprint with new operations in the UK, Ireland, Belgium, and UAE—along with strategic acquisitions in the Netherlands and Italy.
Tarun’s career also includes senior roles at Fannie Mae, where he helped lead the $50B U.S. Treasury TARP program, and Whirlpool Corporation, where he held leadership positions in finance and brand strategy. He began his career at Ernst & Young and has since held leadership posts in finance, operations, and compliance at some of the world’s most respected firms.
Tarun is a Chartered Accountant (CPA equivalent), holds an MBA from Melbourne Business School, and has completed executive education in blockchain and SAP technologies. He currently sits on several boards, including Tapoly, The Council of Insurance Agents & Brokers, and The CFO Alliance, and has served as an adjunct professor in organizational leadership.
Known for his clarity of vision and operational discipline, Tarun is a sought-after speaker and contributor to publications like The Wall Street Journal and CFO Magazine. He is fluent in Hindi and conversational in Spanish and German. Based in Virginia, he remains passionate about fostering innovation in insurance and helping the next generation of founders build enduring businesses.
