Sam Huleatt

Sam Huleatt is an angel investor, founder, and advocate for network-driven investing. He is the Co-Founder of The Side Letter, a research platform for allocators and limited partners. He also invests through Intangible Ventures, his own investing practice. He has backed more than 35 startups as an angel investor. He is also a limited partner in numerous first-time venture funds. Sam Huleatt spoke at the 2025 InsurTech Spring Conference on the panel “Investing in Emerging VC Funds,” alongside David Gritz, Evan Finkel, Stephen West, and John Masson.

Sam has spent years building capital networks for investors. He worked with VC Lab, a leading accelerator for emerging fund managers. There he launched and ran the LP Institute, connecting emerging managers with institutional capital. He also served as Director of On Deck Angels. He built a network of thousands of high-net-worth and family office investors there.

Sam is also a Venture Partner at NextGen Venture Partners. He focuses on sourcing and diligence at the seed and Series A stages. He has advised network-driven funds and accelerators across the venture ecosystem.

Sam is a repeat founder. He co-founded Workstreamer, a business intelligence platform backed by Austin Ventures and later acquired. He then co-founded Heights Media, an advertising technology company he bootstrapped to eight figures in revenue. He also served as an entrepreneur in residence at Primary Venture Partners.

Sam earned an MBA in Corporate Finance from Johns Hopkins University. He also holds a BA in Environmental Science from Bates College.
