Pete Buccola is the Group Chief Underwriting Officer at Hadron Insurance. Hadron enables program specialists to bring innovative insurance products to market globally. Pete builds business expansion and portfolio risk strategies. He follows emerging risk trends, data insights, and client needs. He manages P&L and holds a high level of underwriting authority. His product experience spans property, liability, workers compensation, auto, umbrella, and E&O. Pete Buccola spoke at the 2025 InsurTech Spring Conference on the panel “New Product in 90 Days Toolkit,” alongside Somil Jain, Elliot Vernon, and JoAnne Artesani.
Before Hadron, Pete was Senior Vice President of Insurance at Assurely, leading underwriting and embedded commercial products. Earlier, he spent nearly three years at Coterie Insurance. He rose to Chief Insurance Officer there. He led the team digitizing small commercial P&C delivery and building an automated underwriting engine.
Pete also served as West Underwriting Leader at Blackboard Insurance, an AIG subsidiary. There he deployed a data-enabled product to brokers across the western United States.
Pete built his career over more than 15 years at Travelers. He served as Second Vice President and Regional Operating Officer for the Northwest Region. He led underwriting, risk, and marketing across five states. Earlier, he was a Regional Underwriting Officer and a Managing Director in Southern California. He began as a middle market commercial property-casualty underwriter.
Pete earned an MBA in Finance from the University of La Verne. He also holds a BA from California State University, Fullerton.
