Laurie Covington is the Chief Strategy and Innovation Officer at Homesteaders Life Company. Homesteaders Life is a provider of funeral and final-expense insurance. Laurie leads the development and execution of the company’s strategic vision. She brings over 20 years of experience in the life insurance industry. Her background spans software development, application delivery, and strategy. Laurie Covington speaks at the 2026 InsurTech Spring Conference on the panel “Ecosystem of End of Life Planning,” moderated by Stephen Goldstein, alongside Brian Poppe and Dustin Dew.

Laurie has spent more than 14 years at Homesteaders Life. She began as Director of Application Development and rose through technology leadership. She served as Vice President of Application Delivery and then Senior Vice President of Enterprise Strategic Planning. She stepped into her current Chief Strategy and Innovation Officer role in 2026.

Before Homesteaders, Laurie spent nearly five years at Aviva Investors. She worked in application development and collaboration solutions. She rose from Application Developer to Collaboration Solutions Manager. That role built her foundation in technology and business adoption.

Laurie earned an MBA from the University of Iowa’s Tippie College of Business. She focused on data analytics and finance. She also holds a BA in English Literature from Dordt University. She recently completed a strategic leadership program at Wharton.
