Laura McDonald is the Co-Founder and Co-CEO of Flora Fertility. Flora is the first individually-owned fertility insurance solution. It is backed by A-rated carriers and a global reinsurance panel. Laura is working to make fertility coverage accessible to more people. Her mission is to change how women’s health and family building are funded. Laura McDonald spoke at the 2025 InsurTech Spring Conference on the panel “How to build a Life & Health MGA,” alongside Christy Lane and Somil Jain.
Laura co-founded Flora in 2023. The company launched the first proactive, individually-owned fertility insurance in the US. It is expanding coverage to Canada. She also founded The Gen F Society, a member-driven community focused on women’s health and fertility.
Before Flora, Laura was VP of Strategy at Pluto Ventures. Pluto is an artificial intelligence company building a social commerce platform. She later moved to an advisor and shareholder role there. She held a parallel strategy role at Parallel, a Pluto product.
Earlier, Laura was Vice President of Business Development and Partnerships at Vexxit. Vexxit is a fintech company connecting people with professional advisors. As an early senior hire, she helped build its business and revenue model.
Laura earned a BA in English Literature and Psychology from the University of Manitoba, with honors.
