Josh Cohen is a Principal at Liberty Mutual Strategic Ventures (LMSV), where he has played a foundational role since the fund’s inception in 2015. As a key member of the LMSV team, Josh leads the sourcing, due diligence, legal negotiation, and post-deal management processes for early and growth-stage investments. His strategic oversight helps drive LMSV’s mission to support groundbreaking startups that are reshaping the future of insurance and adjacent industries.
Prior to his current role, Josh held a strategic position within Liberty Mutual, where he specialized in competitive intelligence and market strategy across the insurance sector. His deep industry knowledge and analytical expertise were instrumental in supporting the company’s long-term innovation efforts. Josh also brings a solid background in financial services from his time at Ernst & Young, and he is a licensed CPA.
Josh holds a degree in Finance and Accounting from Boston University, equipping him with a strong foundation in business operations, valuation, and corporate strategy.
Josh Cohen has also served as a past investor in the InsurTech NY Match Program—an initiative that connects top insurance investors with emerging insurtech startups. He participated in the program alongside industry peers such as Robert Hamlin, Principal at Portage Ventures, and Jonathan Crystal, Principal at Crystal Venture Partners.
