Caty Rea is Vice President at Bessemer Venture Partners, a global venture capital firm. At Bessemer, Caty focuses on growth investing across technology companies. She has spent several years investing at the growth stage. She brings a background in venture capital and management consulting to her work. Caty spoke at our 2023 InsurTech Spring Conference on “VCs and InsurTechs — Best Friends Forever or Not?,” alongside David Gritz, Jon Soberg, Jason Gross, and Steve Bernardez.
Caty Rea has built her career in venture capital and investing. Before Bessemer, Caty was an Investor at Highland Capital Partners. There, she worked across the firm’s investments in Boston and New York. Earlier, she served as a Venture Fellow at Rough Draft Ventures, supporting early-stage startups.
Before moving into venture capital, Caty worked in management consulting. She spent three years at McKinsey & Company as a Business Analyst and Senior Business Analyst. There, she advised clients on strategy and operations. That analytical foundation now informs how she evaluates growth-stage companies.
Caty Rea holds an MBA from Harvard Business School, where she graduated with honors. She also earned a Bachelor of Arts in Government from Harvard University. For an insurtech audience, Caty brings a growth investor’s perspective on venture capital, scaling technology companies, and what it takes for insurtechs to attract and work with investors.
