Ramsey Smith is the Founder and CEO of ALEX.fyi and ALEXIncome. ALEXIncome is an institutional platform that helps integrate guaranteed income into 401(k) plans. It works with asset managers, insurers, recordkeepers, and plan sponsors. Ramsey designs target date fund structures with embedded annuities. His focus is modernizing plan design and expanding access to lifetime income solutions. Ramsey Smith spoke at the 2024 InsurTech Spring Conference on the panel “Winning More Group Business with Better Workflows,” alongside Charlie Horn, Ben Yomtoob, Nikki Cleves, and Paul McGee.
Ramsey also serves on the board of directors of Genworth Financial. Genworth is a Fortune 600 company and a leading long-term care and mortgage insurer. He sits on its technology, risk, and governance committees. He is also a member of Blackstone’s InsurTech and FinTech advisory boards.
Before founding ALEX, Ramsey spent more than 21 years at Goldman Sachs. He served as a Managing Director in the Equities Division. There he pioneered the firm’s coverage of the life insurance industry. He also co-founded its dedicated Canada team, focused on the country’s largest pension plans. He served as co-head of the firm’s Black Network.
Ramsey is a recognized voice on retirement income. He is co-founder and co-host of That Annuity Show, a weekly program for retirement professionals. It has been named a top investing podcast by U.S. News & World Report.
Ramsey earned an MBA from Harvard Business School. He also holds a bachelor’s degree from Princeton University, where he studied Romance Languages and Literatures.
