Kayna Launches Third-Party Insurance Risk Compliance Module

Press Release: Kayna Launches Risk Manager for Third-Party Insurance Compliance | InsurTech NY

Kayna, a portfolio company of the InsurTech Fund, has launched Kayna Risk Manager, a stand-alone module for third-party insurance compliance. Rather than stopping at the certificate, it reads the policies, endorsements and contracts behind it, then flags where vendor, franchisee, subcontractor or tenant coverage falls short of what a contract requires.

Kayna announced the launch from Cork, Ireland, on September 15, 2026. Risk Manager is built for franchise networks, marketplaces and vertical SaaS platforms, which can offer it to their enterprise risk managers as a source of live risk intelligence. The module analyzes policy detail, flags coverage gaps and, according to Kayna, helps drive the insurance purchases needed to meet compliance requirements.

The Gap in Third-Party Insurance Compliance

Kayna’s starting point is the limit of certificate tracking. As CTO Peter Bermingham puts it, certificate of insurance trackers do one job well: they file the certificate and flag when it expires. They do not read the policy behind it. A vendor can still show as compliant after the endorsement naming a required additional insured has dropped off at renewal.

Kayna says Risk Manager addresses that by reading the full policy wording and testing it against the contract clause that requires it, so risk teams can find gaps before a claim is filed, not after.

How Kayna Risk Manager Works

  • Reads documents once, in full. The module reads policies, endorsements and contracts and pulls every exclusion, definition and limit into an organized record, with the original clause numbers intact.
  • Tests wording against requirements. It checks policy wording against the clause that requires it, such as a franchise agreement, vendor contract or client requirement, and confirms whether the contract is satisfied. Later checks run against the same record instead of a fresh search of the PDF.
  • Cites every finding. Each result shows the exact policy clause it was tested against, creating a transparent, timestamped audit trail. Where the model cannot read something clearly, it raises a query rather than guessing.
  • Works alone or with a tracker. Risk Manager runs as a standalone AI tool or as a policy-level analysis layer on top of an existing certificate of insurance tracker.
  • Shows the whole portfolio. A dashboard, accessed through a simple portal, breaks down coverage gaps by insurance product and by franchisee or vendor type.

Live in a 260-Location US Franchise Network

Kayna says Risk Manager is already live in multiple group insurance programs, including a US retail franchise network with 260 locations. Activation began with an analysis of 3,000 insurance policy documents, more than 10 per franchisee, which Kayna reports was completed in a single day.

The output was a full insurance risk report, from the network’s overall compliance status down to individual franchisees, which the network’s internal risk team used to escalate coverage gaps and move remediation forward.

What It Means for Risk, Legal and Broker Teams

Kayna expects the module to cut review time for risk, legal and broker teams, and to reduce risk exposure by identifying vendor coverage gaps earlier. Kayna can also optionally embed insurance procurement journeys to support compliance requirements.

From Kayna’s Founders

“Kayna Risk Manager is already delivering as a ground-breaking new element in our product portfolio. Being live in the US has allowed us to secure key measurable proof points as we typically find the real compliance rate drops to between 20-25% once our tool assesses vendors that were previously reported as compliant. That’s hugely compelling, particularly for risk managers within large franchise networks and platforms that carry the liability for vendor and subcontractor compliance. This is the start of a new and exciting product pathway for our business.”

Paul Prendergast, Co-Founder and CEO of Kayna

“We discovered that trackers do one job really well. They file the certificate and flag when it expires. What they can’t do is read the actual policy behind the certificate. So a tracker will tell you a vendor is compliant even when the endorsement naming the required ‘additional insured’ quietly dropped off at their last renewal. Kayna goes further. Our tool goes beyond an existing tracker to deliver a full policy-level analysis layer that also verifies accuracy – that’s the game-changer!”
