Melissa Collett is the Chief Executive Officer of Insurtech UK. Insurtech UK is the industry association working to make the UK a global leader for insurance innovation. Melissa leads its mission on behalf of the insurtech sector. She has a 25-year career raising standards in insurance and financial services. She is a champion of technology in insurance and the growth of the insurtech sector. Melissa Collett spoke at the 2025 InsurTech Spring Conference on the panel “Being a Responsible ESG Player,” alongside Dominique Roudaut, Jun Yamada, and Brittany Lee.
Before Insurtech UK, Melissa was the first Professional Standards Director at the Chartered Insurance Institute. She oversaw professional standards, ethics, and conduct for the members’ institute. She led the development of sector-wide standards, including a Code of Digital Ethics. She spoke at more than 50 conferences and was named among Influential Women in Re/Insurance.
Melissa is a legally qualified professional and experienced board leader. She is a former ombudsman at the Financial Ombudsman Service. She has served as a non-executive chair and independent board member. She was also an advisory board member at Innovate UK, the government-backed innovation body.
Melissa is an elected representative in the City of London. She serves as a Common Councillor for Billingsgate Ward. She sits on the City of London Police Authority Board, which oversees the national lead force for fraud and cybercrime.
Melissa earned an MA in Politics, Philosophy, and Economics from the University of Oxford.
