InsurTech NY News: Is This AI’s Insurance Moment?
For years, the promise of AI and intelligent automation solutions in Insurance has been just that – a promise with only select practical, material applications to point to. There were many interesting early applications, though some felt a bit like the “Not a Hot Dog” scene from Silicon Valley. Great concept, but limiting in how valuable it could really be.
That has started to change lately. We are seeing far more applications that have real impact on results, whether in decisioning in underwriting and claims, transforming and digitizing the customer experience, greatly increasing the percent of work that can be straight through processed, and more.
In NYC alone, there has been $431 million invested in InsurTechs with AI focus with solutions across the valuechain Planck (commercial P&C), Nayya (benefits), Accern (no-code NLP), and Hyperscience (intelligent automation). These deals show real money is behind making the initial promises more of reality, and new possibilities are being opened up.
