Insurers Are Automating Faster Than They Can Verify What’s Real

New research commissioned by Clearspeed warns of a growing verification gap as insurers automate underwriting and claims while the evidence feeding those systems becomes easier to manipulate.

The research reviewed 76 filings from 49 insurers and reinsurers, alongside industry studies and interviews with insurance leaders.

Its central concern is that photos, documents, identities and voices can increasingly be generated or altered using AI, creating a new layer of fraud and authenticity risk for automated insurance decisions.

Huscarl Raises $5.6M to Build an Autonomous AI Actuary

Huscarl raised $5.6 million in seed funding led by FRST, with participation from Y Combinator, to build actuarial technology aimed at corporations using captives and other forms of self-insurance.

The company says its platform can ingest unstructured business data, build bespoke risk models and automate parts of the actuarial workflow.

Its focus on captives is notable as more companies look for alternative ways to finance risks that can be difficult or expensive to place in traditional commercial insurance markets.
