Yann Barbarroux is the CEO and Founder of Otonomi. Otonomi builds next-generation insurance for time-critical freight. Yann started the company in 2020 and leads its product and growth. His background blends capital markets, risk, and emerging digital-asset technology. He pairs that with hands-on expertise in reinsurance and Web3. Otonomi has also been selected into leading insurtech accelerators, including Lloyd’s Lab, Plug and Play, and the Entrepreneurs Roundtable Accelerator. Yann Barbarroux presented Otonomi at the InsurTech Spring Conference, as a finalist in the Global Early-Stage Startup Competition.
Before founding Otonomi, Yann spent nearly seven years at Citi. He served there as a Director and Senior Vice President in Global Markets Risk Management. He managed market risk for emerging-markets credit trading. His coverage spanned Latin America, Eastern Europe, the Middle East, and Africa. He worked across many products, from sovereign and corporate bonds to credit derivatives. He also co-founded an emerging-markets digitized lending initiative inside Citi Ventures’ D10X incubator.
That mix gives Yann an unusual vantage point. He understands both financial-market risk and the technology behind new insurance products. At Otonomi, he applies it to a real gap in global trade. The company helps protect shippers when time-critical freight is delayed or disrupted.
Yann earned a Master of Science in Computer Engineering and Information Systems Management from Télécom Paris. He also holds a Bachelor’s degree in Applied Physics from Aix-Marseille University.
