William Lombardi is the Chief Operating Officer and Executive Vice President of GBU Life. GBU Life is a purpose-driven insurer that offers annuities and life insurance to its members and their families. William leads several core divisions at the company. These include Member & Marketing, Technology & Digital, Member Service & Operations, Underwriting, and Claims. His focus is customer experience, technology, and enterprise-level transformation. He builds operating models that make complex organizations faster and more client-centric. William Lombardi spoke at the InsurTech Spring Conference on the panel “Bringing Alternatives to the Middle Market,” alongside Allison Koppel of the Fraternal Alliance, Chianoo Adrian of TIAA, and Michael Nyszczot of Penn Mutual.
Before GBU Life, William worked as a fractional COO through his own advisory firm, Strategic Advisory Solutions. He advised CEOs on operating models, revenue growth, and talent. Earlier, he spent more than four years at Northwestern Mutual. There he served as Vice President and Executive of Client Services and Operations. He led contact centers and operations and helped drive a client-centric digital transformation.
William also spent more than eight years at USAA, across both its bank and insurance businesses. He led contact center and fulfillment operations and built a 24/7, omni-channel service model. He earlier ran national sales and service for life and investment operations. He also led retail branch strategy and corporate real estate for the company.
William holds an MBA in Entrepreneurship and International Business from the Crummer Graduate School of Business at Rollins College. He also earned a BA in Economics and International Business from Rollins College.
