Tom Troy is the Chief Executive Officer of The Mutual Group. The Mutual Group is a member-based insurance services platform for mutual insurers. It helps mutual insurance companies modernize, grow, and remain independent. It does this by combining permanent capital, technology, and operational expertise. Tom brings more than 30 years of experience in property and casualty insurance. Tom Troy delivered the morning keynote at the 2022 InsurTech Spring Conference, titled “Digital First or Customer First?”.
Before The Mutual Group, Tom served as Executive Vice President and Chief Transformation Officer at USAA. Earlier, he was Chief Executive Officer of CSAA Insurance Group, a AAA insurer. At CSAA, he led a broad effort to reshape the company for the future. He launched Mobilitas Insurance, focused on the future of mobility. He also served on several industry and civic boards, including the American Property Casualty Insurance Association.
Tom’s career spans many of the largest names in P&C insurance. He was an Executive Vice President at Allstate, leading its alternative segments and business insurance. Before that, he spent several years at Liberty Mutual as an EVP and Chief Operating Officer. There he ran a multi-billion-dollar commercial insurance segment. He began his insurance career at Safeco and Kemper, where he grew from underwriter into senior commercial insurance leadership.
Tom holds a Bachelor of Arts from the University of Washington. He also earned an MBA from Seattle University.
