Steven Ueng is the Head of Corporate Development at Guardian Life. Guardian Life is one of the largest mutual life insurers in the United States. In his role, Steven leads corporate development, including M&A and strategic investments. He brings deep experience across insurance, private equity, and investment banking. His work focuses on growth, partnerships, and acquisitions. Steven Ueng spoke at InsurTech NY’s 2019 “Investing in InsurTech – Fad or Long-term Value” event, alongside Nitya Rajendran, Adam Myers, and Farron Blanc.
Before Guardian, Steven spent seven years at Swiss Re. He served as Vice President of Principal Investments and Acquisitions. There he led early-stage investments and M&A deals for the reinsurer. This gave him a front-row view of insurtech and emerging technology. He built expertise in how insurers invest in and acquire innovative companies.
Steven’s career began in finance in New York. He was an investment banking analyst at Citi. He then worked in private equity at J.C. Flowers & Co. He later held a strategic investments role at J.P. Morgan. He also spent time in business development at Paramount Pictures.
Steven earned an MBA from Harvard Business School. He also holds a BA in Economics from Dartmouth College.
