Sam Merrick is Associate Director of Business Development at Moody’s Analytics, where he leads strategic growth initiatives focused on insurance, financial services, and enterprise risk solutions. With a track record of building strong client relationships and driving sales across complex SaaS platforms, Sam brings a dynamic, data-informed approach to customer engagement in a rapidly evolving marketplace.
Since joining Moody’s in 2021, Sam has advanced through several key roles—including Relationship Manager and Assistant Director—before stepping into his current leadership position in 2025. In this capacity, he partners with insurers, MGAs, and financial institutions to deliver data, analytics, and AI-driven tools that enhance underwriting accuracy, risk assessment, and operational decision-making. Known for his energy and results-driven mindset, Sam has helped expand Moody’s footprint in the insurance ecosystem by bridging product innovation with client needs.
Before joining Moody’s, Sam held sales and strategy positions at companies such as Zillow, Madison Square Garden Company, and Turn2 Equity Partners, where he honed his expertise in business development, client retention, and digital marketing. From his early days as a Sales Analyst to his work as an Account Executive in fast-paced environments, Sam has consistently demonstrated a commitment to exceeding performance goals and cultivating long-term client partnerships.
He holds a degree in Political Science and Government from Trinity College, where he developed a foundation in strategic thinking and persuasive communication that continues to shape his business approach.
Sam Merrick will be joining InsurTech NY’s MGA Lab program to share insights on how data and advanced analytics are reshaping MGA operations and accelerating go-to-market strategies for emerging insurance products.
