Sam Hosey is the Director of Innovation at AF Group. AF Group is a specialty insurance holding company known for workers’ compensation. Sam owns strategy and operations for the company’s innovation division. His work spans new technology, mergers and acquisitions, and investments. He leads the development of innovation strategies and helps shape the company’s roadmap. Sam spoke at a past InsurTechNY event.
Sam has spent more than a decade at AF Group. He first joined as a Senior Business Analyst. In that role he led legacy system migrations and defined business requirements. He built expertise in core systems, including Guidewire, and in robotic process automation. He was named Director of Innovation in 2020.
Before AF Group, Sam spent four years at MERS of Michigan. He served as a Senior IT Business Systems Analyst there. He earlier worked as an IT System Administrator. In that role he built the organization’s mobile device management solution. He also designed and delivered an enterprise-wide IT security awareness program. That hands-on technical foundation still informs how he evaluates new technology.
Sam holds an MBA from Davenport University. He also earned a BBA from Northwood University.
