Pooja Shah is the AI Product and Strategy Lead at CSAA Insurance Group, a AAA insurer. She works on how AI and automation can improve the business. She is also a venture investor with a background in early-stage technology. Her focus areas include AI, insurtech, enterprise technology, and climate tech. She brings a strong technical foundation to evaluating emerging technologies. Pooja spoke at a past InsurTechNY event.
Pooja spent nearly three years as a venture capital investor with Avanta Ventures. Avanta is the corporate venture arm of CSAA Insurance Group. There she worked on sourcing, evaluating, and supporting early-stage portfolio companies. She has a particular interest in how startups apply AI and software to insurance problems.
Before Avanta, Pooja was Senior Innovation Manager at SageSure. SageSure is a leading managing general underwriter in coastal property insurance. There she worked on innovation initiatives for the business. She also works independently as a venture and strategy consultant.
Pooja serves as Board Member and President of the Doyenne Group. The organization supports women in business and entrepreneurship.
Pooja earned a BS in Mechanical Engineering from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. She also holds a master’s degree in Manufacturing Systems Engineering and Engineering Management from the University of Wisconsin-Madison.
