Patrick Blandford is the Founder and CEO of Green Shield. Green Shield addresses the dislocation in property insurance in states at risk of wildfire and hurricane. It focuses on prevention rather than just predicting losses. That approach helps property owners and brokers secure insurance at fair rates. The business combines a property-focused MGA with a wildfire analytics company. Patrick Blandford spoke at the 2025 InsurTech Spring Conference on the panel “Preparing for the Next Natural Disaster,” alongside Sokhiba Mukhitdinova, Isaac Espinoza, Adam Troyer, and Anna Holzapfel.
Patrick founded Green Shield in 2022. It comprises two operating companies. Green Shield Risk Solutions is a property-focused managing general agent. Property Guardian Solutions provides wildfire analysis and mitigation recommendations. Together they bring insurance capacity and risk mitigation into one offering. The goal is to write insurance in areas that other carriers avoid.
Before Green Shield, Patrick spent 11 years as CEO of Tokio Marine Highland. Tokio Marine Highland is a leading specialty underwriting agency. Earlier, he was a Managing Director at two private equity firms, Frontenac and the CCCC Growth Fund. Both focused on business and financial services investing. He also served as Chairman of Source Intelligence, a sustainability data company.
Patrick began his career at Goldman Sachs. He holds bachelor’s and master’s degrees from the University of Notre Dame. He is also a CFA charterholder.
