Ozan Bilgen is the Founder and CEO of Base64.ai. Base64.ai builds document AI that extracts data from all types of documents. Its platform handles more than 2,800 document types with high speed and accuracy. Ozan is a software engineer and inventor with multiple patent applications. His background includes engineering leadership roles at major technology companies. Ozan Bilgen delivered a TED-style talk at the 2024 InsurTech Spring Conference, titled “Practical Applications of AI in Documents.”
Ozan founded Base64.ai in 2020. The company is backed by investors including Sequoia. Its platform runs in the cloud and can be deployed in air-gapped on-premises data centers. The company holds ISO 27001, HIPAA, GDPR, and SOC 2 Type 2 certifications. It was named a leading intelligent document processing startup in 2025.
Before founding Base64.ai, Ozan held engineering roles at several major technology companies. He was a Software Architect at Palantir Technologies. He also spent more than four years as an Engineering Manager at Uber, leading worldwide teams. There he worked on driver payments and other core systems.
Ozan also built payment systems at scale. He architected payment infrastructure at PayPal, one of the world’s largest payment processors. Earlier, he built the payment system that supported Netflix’s global expansion.
Ozan earned an MSc in Computer Science from Istanbul Technical University, graduating with honors. He also holds a Bachelor of Engineering in Computer Engineering from Galatasaray University.
