Oscar Garza is the CEO and Co-Founder of Journey Sports. Journey Sports is an insurtech platform built for amateur athletes. It uses technology to make sports insurance easier to access, from distribution to claims. Its work also includes risk modeling and injury prevention programs. Oscar’s mission is to democratize sports. Oscar Garza pitched Journey Sports as a finalist in the Global Early-Stage Startup Competition at the 2023 InsurTech Spring Conference.
Oscar is also the President of InsurTech Mexico. In that role he leads the country’s main insurtech association. The organization brings together insurtechs, insurers, and reinsurers. It promotes better regulatory practices and expands access to insurance. It also produces events that unite the insurtech sector across Mexico and Latin America.
Oscar’s leadership extends across the region. He serves as Vice President of the Alianza Insurtech del Pacífico. That confederation unites insurtech associations in Argentina, Chile, Colombia, and Mexico. Together they work toward a shared development agenda for the region.
Oscar is a lawyer by training. Earlier in his career, he worked on microinsurance programs at BANSEFI, a Mexican development bank. That work covered life and agricultural microinsurance for account holders. He also worked in administrative litigation.
Oscar earned a law degree from Universidad Panamericana.
