Lu Ma is the Chief Operating & Strategy Officer at Amplify Life Insurance, where she plays a pivotal role in steering the company’s growth, operational efficiency, and long-term strategy. With a decade and a half of experience in actuarial science, insurance innovation, and portfolio leadership, Lu has become a trusted voice in modernizing life insurance for today’s consumers.
Prior to her current role, Lu served as Chief Insurance Officer at Amplify, leading product, pricing, and underwriting strategy as the company expanded its footprint in the digital life insurance space. Under her leadership, Amplify introduced data-driven underwriting workflows and forged critical partnerships that helped it stand out in a competitive market.
Before joining Amplify, Lu was Head of Pricing & Portfolio Strategy at Oscar Health, where she helped scale the company through multiple growth phases, including IPO preparation. Her work at Oscar helped shape how next-generation health insurers balance risk with rapid expansion in a highly regulated space.
Lu also spent over six years at Prudential Financial, where she rose to the level of Director, Actuary and gained hands-on experience with large-scale pricing, reserving, and actuarial modeling. Earlier in her career, she held an associate role at Bridgewater Associates, where she honed her analytical foundation in the world of quantitative investing.
Lu holds a Master’s Degree in Mathematics from the University of Connecticut. She is a Fellow of the Society of Actuaries (FSA) and a Member of the American Academy of Actuaries (MAAA), credentials that underscore her deep technical expertise and credibility in risk management.
