Kevin Stein is the CEO and Co-Founder of Delos Insurance Solutions. Delos is a catastrophe insurance provider focused on wildfire risk. It uses AI wildfire risk models built by leading wildfire science professors. Kevin brings an aerospace engineering background to the problem of catastrophe modeling. His mission is to insure homes the industry mistakenly categorizes as high risk. Kevin Stein delivered a TED-style talk at the 2023 InsurTech Spring Conference, titled “Catastrophes in 2023: How To Be Profitable.”
Kevin co-founded Delos Insurance in 2017. The company uses patent-pending wildfire models to write insurance for low-risk homes. It also offers a real-time risk mitigation service to help homeowners protect their properties. His goal is to bring more sophistication to catastrophe underwriting.
Before Delos Insurance, Kevin co-founded Delos Space. That company worked on a small-satellite constellation for real-time communication. He brought his aerospace expertise directly into his insurtech venture.
Kevin built his early career in aerospace engineering. He spent nearly six years at Space Systems Loral. He worked as a mechanical systems engineer and proposal lead on satellite programs. That experience shaped his systems-driven approach to modeling risk.
Kevin earned an MS in Aeronautics and Astronautics from Stanford University. He also holds a BS in Mechanical Engineering from the University of California, Berkeley.
