Frank Chechel is Vice President and Head of Individual Life Underwriting at Gen Re, where he leads the company’s facultative underwriting operations and develops value-added underwriting services for Gen Re’s insurance clients in the United States.

With a strong track record across product development, underwriting, reinsurance, and actuarial analysis, Frank brings diverse industry experience to his current role. His background equips him to analyze market trends, define strategic priorities, and lead cross-functional and hybrid teams across multiple locations — enabling consistent delivery of effective reinsurance and underwriting solutions.

At Gen Re, Frank oversees facultative underwriting operations and leads initiatives to streamline underwriting processes, improve risk assessment, and deliver tailored services that meet the evolving needs of insurance carriers. Under his leadership, Gen Re continues to offer innovative underwriting capabilities, combining actuarial modeling, predictive analytics, and underwriting innovation to support clients with robust and flexible risk-management strategies.

Before joining Gen Re, Frank held leadership roles at several major insurers: Guardian Life, Transamerica Life, New York Life, and AXA Equitable. He holds a Bachelor of Arts in Mathematics from Binghamton University, and possesses the FSA (Fellow of the Society of Actuaries) and MAAA (Member of the American Academy of Actuaries) designations — underscoring his deep actuarial expertise.
