Bruce Hentschel is Principal Owner of Hentschel Consulting, a strategy and innovation advisory firm. Bruce advises for-profit and nonprofit organizations as a strategic advisor. He helps leaders clarify direction, align resources, and turn vision into execution. His experience spans group benefits, life and health insurance, retirement, and the insurtech and fintech ecosystems. Bruce spoke at our 2023 InsurTech Spring Conference on “Growing the L&A Pie through Partnerships,” alongside Marc Peliel, Jeff Wasco, and John Albanese.

Bruce Hentschel spent more than 26 years at Principal Financial Group. He most recently served as Vice President of Enterprise Strategy and Innovation, from which he retired in 2023. There, he worked with the executive team to develop long-term strategic plans and innovation initiatives. Earlier at Principal, he held roles across strategy, product management, operations, and sales in the insurance and retirement businesses.

Today, Bruce also serves as a Senior Advisor at Accenture. He previously sat on the Innovation Leadership Council of The Conference Board. Earlier in his career, he led claims operations at Connecticut National Life Insurance and Trustmark. In parallel, Bruce works as an art consultant and serves as President of the Greater Des Moines Public Art Foundation.

Bruce Hentschel holds a Bachelor of Science in Meteorology from the University of Wisconsin-Madison. For an insurtech audience, Bruce brings a strategist’s perspective on insurance and retirement innovation, partnerships, group benefits, and building enterprise strategies that turn ideas into measurable results.
