Brian O’Reilly is Head of Innovation at Greenlight Re, a global specialty reinsurer. At Greenlight Re, Brian leads the company’s strategic investment unit, Greenlight Re Innovations. He evaluates emerging technologies and their applications to insurance and reinsurance. He also provides investment, risk capacity, and strategic advisory to early-stage startups. Brian spoke on “Making Early-Stage Investments Work” at InsurTech Investment Summit.
Brian O’Reilly has spent more than a decade at Greenlight Re. He began as an actuary, working across reserving, pricing, capital management, and catastrophe modeling. He later served as Senior Principal before moving into his current innovation role. Today, Brian leads the team that partners with and invests in insurtech startups.
Brian is an active board observer across Greenlight Re’s portfolio. He holds board observer roles at companies including Coterie, Leap, Cove Insurance, battleface, and Sana Benefits. Before Greenlight Re, Brian worked as an actuarial analyst at Accident Fund Holdings and ICW Group. Those early roles built his foundation in reserving and pricing.
Brian O’Reilly holds a Bachelor of Business Administration in Finance from the University of Miami. He is also an Associate of the Society of Actuaries and an Associate of the Casualty Actuarial Society. For an insurtech audience, Brian brings an actuary and investor’s perspective on reinsurance, insurtech investing, early-stage startups, and bringing new technology into the reinsurance market.
