2021 marked a major milestone for InsurTech investment. Venture investors placed more than $10B in bets on InsurTech startups, which now represents more than 10% of the FinTech pie. At the start of the trend, InsurTech represented only a tiny fraction of the FinTech pie, but now it is a meaningful piece.

At the same time, the number and diversity of players in InsurTech are expanding. In the last 7 years, more than 10 VC funds and 30 insurance carrier CVC funds formed dedicated units to InsurTech. Watching from the sidelines is no longer an option. Insurers must have a stake in the next wave of InsurTech investment to stay competitive.
