Frank Chechel, FSA, MAAA, is Vice President and Head of Individual Life Underwriting at Gen Re, where he leads the company’s facultative underwriting operations and develops value-added underwriting services for life insurance clients. In this role, Frank directs strategic underwriting execution and client-focused solutions that support insurer partners in managing risk, improving performance, and adapting to evolving market dynamics.
Before assuming his current leadership position at Gen Re, Frank served as Senior Account Executive & Underwriting Innovation Lead within the Individual Life Sales & Marketing team, where he championed underwriting innovation and collaborated closely with carriers to enhance underwriting workflows and service models. His progression into senior leadership reflects both his technical expertise and his commitment to underwriting excellence.
Prior to joining Gen Re, Frank held a series of underwriting and leadership roles with major life insurance companies, including Guardian Life, Transamerica Life, New York Life, and AXA Equitable. These experiences provided him with broad insight into product development, distribution strategy, and underwriting operations across different carrier environments, enriching his perspective on industry challenges and opportunities.
Frank is a graduate of Binghamton University, where he earned a Bachelor of Arts in Mathematics—a foundation that underpins his analytical approach to underwriting strategy and risk evaluation. He also holds the Fellow of the Society of Actuaries (FSA) and Member of the American Academy of Actuaries (MAAA) designations, demonstrating his professional commitment to actuarial rigor and underwriting science.
